Scope of privacy policy

Privacy policy should apply to handling of private information on The Railway Museum website operated by the East Japan Railway Culture Foundation.

Basic Policy
East Japan Railway Culture Foundation (“the Foundation”) shall comply with all laws and internal regulations pertaining to the protection of personal information (defined as information pertaining to people and data which may be used to identify any individual). The Foundation shall protect personal privacy by obtaining and using personal information appropriately, maintaining such information safe and up-to-date, and disposing of it by appropriate methods.
Company-wide Privacy Protection Activities
  • 1. The Foundation shall comply with privacy protection laws and regulations.
  • 2.The Foundation shall establish and comply with privacy protection regulations. The Foundation shall form and comply with necessary privacy rules pertaining to each system and work that deals with personal information.
  • 3.The Foundation shall periodically ascertain whether or not personal information is being handled appropriately, and act to remedy any problems should they be discovered.
  • 4.The Foundation shall request cooperation from all companies in the group, and business partners-corporate and otherwise- in achieving the objectives of the internal regulations.
  • 5.The Foundation’s privacy policy shall be made available to the public at all times, such as by posting it on the Foundation's website.
Handling personal information

The Foundation should strive to handle personal information as outlined below

  • 1.Internal System
    The Foundation shall assign administrators for each item of personal information, and shall manage all such information appropriately.
  • 2.Obtaining personal information
    The Foundation shall specify the purpose of use for personal information and obtain such information by appropriate means. In regard to provision of personal information to third party, the foundation shall clearly state the purpose and scope of provision. The foundation shall handle such provision in an appropriate manner.
  • 3.Use and sharing of personal information
    In using personal information, the Foundation fully acknowledges the importance of privacy protection, and shall only use personal information for the stated purposes. When sharing all or part of personal information with a third party for the purpose of disposal etc., the Foundation shall select such party with care and oversee that the information is handled appropriately.
  • 4.Appropriate management of personal information
    The Foundation shall establish rules and regulations on handling private information, and implement safety countermeasures.
  • 5.Respecting your rights
    The Foundation will respect your rights regarding personal information, and will answer reasonable requests, such request for access to your information, rectification and deletion, within a reasonable timeline.
  • 6.Compliance
    The Foundation shall comply with all applicable privacy laws and regulations in relation to handling of personal information.
  • 7.Continuous improvement of privacy protection
    The Foundation shall endeavor continuously to improve its protection of personal information
