The 100-Year History of the Nihonkai Jukan Line: The Underestimated Backbone of Japan's Railway System
【October 12, 2024(Sat) - January 27, 2025(Mon)】
This year marks the 140th anniversary of the start of train services in the Nihonkai (Japan Sea) area and the 100th anniversary of the Nihonkai Jukan Line(日本海縦貫線), which connects the Kansai region to the Aomori region along the coastline. The Nihonkai Jukan Line includes the Hokuriku Line(北陸本線), Shinetsu Line(信越本線), Uetsu Line(羽越本線), and Ōu Line(奥羽本線), which are often an underestimated backbone of Japan's railway system. In this exhibition, we will look back at the 100-year history of the Nihonkai Jukan Line.
